Tamilnadu Express tragedy: 32 PASSENGERS DEAD







At least 32 passengers have been dead and many others were seriously injured when a fire broke in Coach S-11 of Chennai-bound Tamilnadu Express near Nellore on Monday morning. The train was going from Chennai to Delhi.

The S-11 Coach is so baldy burnt that except the metal frames nothing is left and the bodied were charred beyond recognition. This incident happened when most of the passengers were sleeping. Due to fire, the passengers couldn't come out of one of the doors and this resulted in increase of deaths. All the injured were rushed to Nellore civic hospital. Luckily, the railway authorities detached the S-11 from the train as soon as they noticed the fire and prevented the spread of flames to other coaches.

S-11 Coach caught with fire due to short circuit at around 4:30 am. As this coach has a full occupancy of 72 seats on Monday, the death toll might go up. As many as 28 people from Vijayawada, 11 each from Warangal & Bhopal, 17 from Delhi are in the coach. An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs each has been announced by Railway Minister Mukul Roy for the families of victims.
